VIDALIA PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION

The Vidalia Planning and Zoning Commission serves as an advisory board to Vidalia City Council.  The Commission is comprised of 7 uncompensated members who are citizens of the city, serving 4 year terms appointed by City Council.  Though the Commission has many duties, the primary duty of the Commission is to review all proposed changes, variances or amendments to any part of the Zoning Code.  The Commission also serves as the Board of Appeals.  The powers and duties of the Board of Appeals include hearing alleged errors in order, decision or determination made by an administrative official in the enforcement of the zoning ordinance, as well as hearing special exceptions to the terms of the ordinance.  Other peripheral duties include review of new residential subdivision designs and plat approval as well as periodic review of general zoning direction in order to support  the City of Vidalia's Comprehensive Plan.
