Ohooppee Regional Library

The Vidalia-Toombs County Public Library was founded by the Vidalia Woman's Club and has served the community for over 80 years.  It is the headquarters for the Ohoopee Regional Library Systems with 7 locations serving 4 counties in Georgia.  As a member of the PINES statewide library systems, the Vidalia-Toombs County Library is part of a network of 300 libraries in the state where library users have access to over 11 million items for checkout.  A library card is free to all Georgia residents and the card can be used in PINES library in the state.

In addition to the traditional collection of books, movies and audiobooks, library card holders can access digital books, digital audiobooks and e-magazines on their devices from home.  Through the website and GALILEO library users can find educational materials from free legal forms, foreign language courses, test taking manuals and dozens of academic resources for all ages.  Free use public Internet computers are provided at the library and WiFi is available to anyone who needs access to high speed Internet.

Each month the library has a calendar of events and offers Story Time, Lego Club, Book Club, Friends of the Library, Teen Programs and craft programs for all ages.  Vidalia's library provides weekly afterschool programs in the Science & Technology Room where children and parents participate in Virtual Reality games and get hands on experience with 3-D printing, circuit building and science based programs.  Making use of an old card catalog the library offers patrons a Seed Catalog where they can take up to 5 packs of vegetable or flower seeds per visit and are encouraged to share their harvest.  Each year children participate in the Summer Reading Program and we are a Summer Food Service Site through the USDA.  The Vidalia-Toombs County Public Library works with many community partners and combines traditional library service with innovative programs and technology as we grow to meet the needs of Vidalia's citizens.
