The role of City Clerk of Vidalia encompasses many job functions that involve but are not limited to the following tasks:

  • Documenting and facilitating city council meetings to include preparing and distributing agendas, taking minutes, and publicizing all information required by law.
  • Document and publish ordinances and resolutions.  The City of Vidalia ordinances are available through www.municode.com
  • Public records management - maintain public records and process any open records request (request forms are available on this website)
  • Records retention management 
  • Provides support to the office of the Mayor and City Manager

The City Clerk of Vidalia actively participates in the Georgia Municipal Clerks Association (GMCA) and the Carl Vinson Institute of Government (CVIOG) together for training opportunities and certification as a Certified Municipal Clerk.  This training consists of educational and professional development standards with a 15-hour mandated training along with 100 additional hours required for full certification.
